Ian Poulter won big in the US for the first time this past weekend. I love his pink outfit,Â called marshmallow in his Ian Poulter clothing catalog. The sweater or v-neck jumper, has a beautiful knit design. The pants are unusual with a piping down the side. Love the color Ian!

You can call any golf ball lie unplayable through the green. Lots of golfers think because it’s unplayable in the side scrub, bushes, or trees, they can remove the ball and drop back into play in a clear area. There are 3 options when you declare an unplayable lie:

Keeping a straight line from the pin to your ball, go back on a continuous line as far as you want. If you are in the bunker, you must stay in the bunker.
Hit from the last place you hit.
2 club lengths. Since this is 2 clubs penalty vs 1 club length free relief, you can choose any club in your bag for measurement.

On the putting green there is no penalty if while moving loose impediments the ball moves. “If a ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved in the process of lifting the ball under a Rule or marking its position, the ball or ball-marker must be replaced. There is no penalty, provided the movement of the ball or ball-marker is directly attributable to the specific act of marking the position of or lifting the ball. Otherwise, the player incurs a penalty of one stroke under this Rule or Rule 18-2a.”

If you move your ball marker on the green to get it out of the way for another player, and then you forget to put it back, it is 2 strokes penalty for palying from the wrong place. You do not need to rectify.”If a ball to be replaced is placed other than on the spot from which it was lifted or moved and the error is not corrected as provided in Rule 20-6, the player incurs the general penalty, loss of hole in match play or two strokes in stroke play, for a breach of the applicable Rule.”

fixing golf divots

Do you regularly fix divots? I play with more golfers who complain about divot marks than golfers who fix divot marks. Turf damage is easily avoided with proper repair. In the Rules of Golf Section I,Â “. . . a player should ensure that any divot hole made by him and any damage to the putting green made by a ball is carefully repaired.” The simplest rule is to fill divots with sand in the south or areas with bermuda grass, and by replacing the grass everywhere else.

There is no penalty for not Fixing divots, but everyone suffers from course conditions that result from improper care.

A recent study found the average golfer walks about 900 miles aÂ year.
Another study found golfers drink, onÂ average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.
That means, on average, golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes you proud.Â Almost feel like a hybrid.
